Rogers $50 Loyalty Plan with 4GB Data and Canada-Wide Calling Returns

Rogers has brought back its $50 per monthy ‘loyalty plan’ with 4GB of data and unlimited Canada-wide calling again, the company’s response to TELUS-owned Public Mobile’s $38/4GB plan targeting Freedom Mobile switchers (which was recently extended to July 6).

Here’s what this BYOD plan offers for $50 per month:

Unlimited Canada Wide Calling
Unlimited SMS/MMS
4GB Data ($5/100MB overages)
Mini Voicemail (3 msgs)
Caller ID, 2500 Forwarding Minutes, Conference Calling, Call Waiting
Roam Like Home

How to get this plan? You need to call into Rogers and ask to speak with the retentions department (not the first line agent you encounter), explain you’re looking to switch to Public Mobile or Freedom Mobile, and they should offer it to you, according to RFD. If you are unsuccessful, hang up and call back to speak to another agent.

Rogers offered this exact same plan back in December, but it did not include Roam Like Home.

Again, if you’re looking to get onto a cheaper plan and 4GB of data is enough for you every month, this is one plan to try switching to, considering Rogers charges $85 per month for the same BYOD plan right now ($85 with 2GB + 2GB bonus).

Are you implying it’s not a good price?

Just got off the phone with CS. Moved to this plan with no problems at all, very good deal for a Rogers plan. You need to have been with Rogers for at least 6 months, you have to mention a competitive plan (from FM or PM) and say you will port out.

I just changed to this plan using “My Rogers” without talking to anyone. Hit change plan and work your way down to this $50 4GB plan. Did not have to talk to anyone and took 5 minutes.

Wow didn’t know that was possible.

I was also able to change by calling and speaking with Loyalty. Since I have been with Rogers since 2003 she also gave me a $10 Loyalty discount to make the plan $40 a month to match Public Mobile/Freedom. Thank you Rogers and Loyalty 🙂

Yes! Didn’t even ask for it. She just said to me that i was a peach to talk to. Looked over my file and said wow 14 years with us, bill is paid for every month on time with auto pay. Here you go haha so might be good to call instead of just updating the plan online

Fido offered the same 4gb plan for $45

As always thanks Gary!! Just made the switch, missed it last time.

I had an okay plan, but was always excluded from the “Roam like home” feature. While the price is still a little high I will probably just stop buying SIMs for other countries and just enjoy the convenience, albeit at a cost.

Loyalty Rogers?! U guys don’t understand the word. Last time I was with U guys for 5 years with a $50 plan you sent me a notice that the CRTC allowed you to jack up my bill an additional $10/month. Under Public Mobile, my bill goes DOWN the longer I’m with them…now that’s loyalty. In return I grant them…loyalty by staying their customer.

I would love to get on Public Mobile but I live on the fringe of the HomeZone so I fear roaming costs.

Public Mobile have no home zone … Its all 1 zone roam free… under telus… Just like the big 3, koodo, fido and virgin….

As of right now this Rogers loyalty plan is better than any of Public Mobile offerings.

I can’t believe I just gave up my 6GB plan! But the savings here is much better for me. On this plan, no term I asked, I’m saving $25/month. I found it in MyRogers login. I hit change my plan and when the options came up I scrolled left two or three times and there it was. It didn’t say that Call Display was included so I called retentions. 20min wait to get and agent but then she walked me through the ordering process on my screen and eventually its showed everything it offered before I selected it. Great savings… now I have to watch my data like a hawk until I adjust!

Do you know if the voicemail is upgradable to visual voice mail with more than 3 messages? You are able to get it without signing a 2 year contract?

No term contract. Not sure about the visual voicemail but I’m pretty sure they offer it as a $5/month add on.

The fido plans don’t have Roam Like Home. I think that’s pretty sweet for travellers.

Tried getting this plan but they won’t let me because its for “no-tab” customers, any thoughts on how i can get around this?

Success! I was on one of the original iPhone plans from the 3G days, which was great at the time ($65 for 6GB), but eventually the promo ended and last year they raised the price so it was $85 without all the newer features like share everything, roam like home, and extended coverage. Now I’m only getting 4GB, but I rarely go over 3GB in usage anyway since wifi is much more common now.

It was a surprisingly seamless process. I just mentioned I was looking at PM/FM and retentions offered it without question. Lost my visual voicemail, but oh well.

Got this plan last Friday. Took about 40 mins with Retention. The girl kept asking for this plan’s detail and put me on hold a total of 6 times saying she needed to see what she could do. I have been with Rogers since 2001, never missed payments, always paid in full. No $10 Loyalty discount (Back in the day I had the 20% ambassador discount). I just logged into MyRogers and the plan does not list Roam Like Home though.

It doesn’t list it there but if you click “manage my add ons” and click on “travel” it should show Roam Like Home and indicate that you are enrolled.

Thanks for posting this. Just switched from a 8GB shared plan to this deal with two separate lines this morning. What was $140+tax (and would have been going up to
$150 next month) is now $100+tax/month. Had to pay off my tab, which had
only $45 left. No brainer!
