Apple Officially Announces July 30 iPhone 4 Launch Date

Earlier this morning, Apple issued a press release officially announcing the release of the iPhone 4 in 17 new countries for this Friday, July 30th.

Everyone who watched the July 16 Apple press conference and has been following our reports shouldn’t be surprised by this date, but it is nice to see an official statement.

CUPERTINO, California—July 26, 2010—Apple’s iPhone® 4 will be available in 17 more countries this Friday, July 30. iPhone 4 features FaceTime®, which makes video calling as easy as one tap, Apple’s new Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, resulting in stunning text, images and video, and a beautiful all-new design of glass and stainless steel that is the thinnest smartphone in the world.

Beginning this Friday, customers can purchase iPhone 4 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. iPhone 4 will be available for purchase through Apple’s retail and online stores and Apple® Authorized Resellers.

Pricing & Availability
iPhone 4 will be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland this Friday, July 30.

iPhone 4 is currently available in France, Germany, Japan, the UK and the US for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model. iPhone 4 will roll out to many more countries later this year and Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional countries at a later date.

Oddly enough, the Apple Canada Online store still lists the iPhone 4 as “Coming soon” and the press release, while mentioning US pricing, neglected to announce Canadian pricing.

We anticipate more details to be released this week, as the Canadian wireless carriers have started to launch their hardware upgrade/renewal programs for a July 30, 2010 launch.

hmmm…I wonder if I can use my employee discount on the non subsidized phone?

  • http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/ Ex

Who is your employer? And where do you expect the discount?

  • fidoiphoneguy

@EX – so if i'm renewing my contract (i contacted FIDO and they said i'm eligible since it's 14mnths before my 3year ends) they can do that at the APPLE STORE? i think i may have better luck down at FIDO.. i think everyone will be at the apple store? And, i highly doubt i can use my FIDO dollars to pay for the phone at Apple? am i at least correct on that end?

  • http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/ Ex

    Haha, sorry no.

You can use your Fido dollars and you can renew at Apple. The trade off is the line but your guaranteed a phone versus a Fido store that may get maybe 20 units?

Try to find a little rogers store in your area. Call them make sure they have stock and head on over, thats my plan! There are so many rogers stores in GTA so chances are good…………….. i think?

  • asdmd

Anyone wanting company while we camp out at Eaton Centre and then the mad dash to Apple store. Im thinking 6 am as the mall does not open till 10 :(

  • Laura

Roger's website now says coming July 30th!… finally!

I work at Autodesk and I am expecting to use my 8 percent discount on a non subsidized phone.

  • fidoiphoneguy

last ?… when purchasing at the FIDO store using fido dollars, the cost of the phone is automatcially added to your bill (you walk out with a phone, but don't use interac or credit card, instead your billed on ur next invoice) will this be the same for Apple or will i need to pay with CC minus my fido dollars..

Also, who the heck are you? superman?? :) how do u know so much?

  • Yummy

Hi there, I'm in St. Catharines ON. Would I be better off waiting in line at the Telus Store, or going to Best Buy? Who do you think will have more stock, and who do you think will have a shorter line? Any advice?

  • Tarek

Oh I didn't know the previous versions of the 3G had the carrier logo on the side of the box I usually bought my phones from the US to save me the nightmare of dealing with The Big Three. Well I think I will either order it online day of or tough it out and go the Apple store.

Do you have any idea about how many units I can purchase?
I need 3 or 4 units (1 for each member of my family). Do Apple store will allow me to buy 4 on friday?

  • Ronnie

Do anybody know how many units Can be purchased on friday.
I need 4 units for whole family but they cannot camp with me.

People like you make me laugh. Honestly, if you hate Apple so much, find something more productive to do with your time. Go get a job so that you can save enough money to pay for your next lay.

Does anyone know where the shortest line-ups may be in the GTA on Friday/Saturday?

    My thoughts exactly!

  • Ronnie

So I cannot use cash to pay for them?
If I can, just Can $ or also Amer $?

  • http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/ Ex

You can pay cash, but it's still two per customer.

  • Anna

I heard that it will only be available in black, and the white will be availble in December, true or false?

  • Awazakito
  • Jarndt08

    Definitely true.

  • Ronnie

Any chance to buy two in a store and them rush to another for two more ones?
If I buy a gift card at apple store in usa may I use it in Canada?
I know there 4 stores in Toronto. Any specific location better to stay overnight waiting the opening?
    Thanks.

  • http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/ Ex

Of course. You can buy two at store X and then two more at store Y.

Apple Canada gift card only. USA cards won't work.

Since I'm not from Toronto, I'd find an apple store or mall that has some kind of overhead covering or seating outside near entrances.
