Rogers Separates Call Display & Name Display Features, Charges Two Prices

With the launch of the new “Extreme” text messaging from Rogers, the Canadian wireless carrier has also made changes to its existing Caller Display and Name Display features.

Please note that the changes detailed below do not affect existing Rogers customers that are already subscribed to Caller Display and Name Display. The changes only affect new clients or existing clients that are adding Caller Display and Name Display as standalone features for the first time.

Caller Display & Name Display changes

First some Rogers feature definitions:

Call Display
A service that allows users to see the phone number of incoming callers, even if that number is not in the users address book. If an incoming number is blocked, Caller Display will display “Blocked”.

Name Display
Enables users to see the name of incoming callers, even if that number is not in the users address book.

Before May 4, 2010, Caller Display and Name Display were offered together as one service for one price. Now, Rogers has separated the services and charges two separate prices. However, if users purchase a Rogers Value Pack, such as the $20 iPhone value pack, Caller Display and Name Display are still included under the $20 price along with the other value pack features.

You can see what they’ve done here. Now because their Value Packs still included Caller Display and Name Display, this by default builds more “value” in terms of “savings” behind these packs. Sneaky Rogers.

The new prices of Caller Display and Name Display as standalone features from Rogers are as follows:

Caller Display: $8.00
Name Display: $2.00

Note that these features are no longer available together under one price unless subscribed to a Rogers Value Pack. Also note, Name Display cannot be added without Caller Display. Yep.
