Apple to Redesign Third-Party Accessory-Maker Packaging for Apple Stores

Apple has informed its retail store employees that, starting next week, third-party accessories will appear in new packaging co-designed by the company. The move seems to be part of Apple’s effort to control the customer experience.

As the memo obtained by 9to5Mac suggests, the company has been working with third-party accessory-makers for the past six months to redesign boxes to match the packaging of Apple’s products.

The results are in, so Apple is making preparations to reduce the amount of accessories available in store with old packaging and replace them with the new ones. You’ll see accessories from Tech21, Sena, Incase, Mophie, Logitech, and Life Proof in the new packaging soon.

What this means is more white, simpler fonts, new photography, higher-quality materials, and more consistent compatibility labelling, the memo explains.

This is only the start: as Apple is working closely with third-party accessory-makers, customers visiting Apple Stores will likely notice a change in the packaging style of the products soon.
