Apple Said to Release iOS 8.4 GM and iOS 9 Beta 2 Downloads Today

If you’re eagerly awaiting for iOS 8.4 Golden Master (GM) to be released, it could be coming today, along with iOS 9 beta 2 for developers, reports a “trusted source” speaking with BGR:

Apple is currently planning on releasing iOS 8.4 GM today. iOS 9 beta 2 is also scheduled for release today, though it’s possible they could move it to next Monday, the 29th.

Usually new versions of iOS are released just before 10AM PDT/1PM EDT, so keep an eye out for that. We’ll be sure to let you know when it arrives.

Apple Music launches on June 30 and will require users to download iOS 8.4, which comes with a redesigned Music app. iOS 8.4 beta 4 was released on June 9, while iOS 9 beta 1 was released on June 8, the day of the WWDC keynote.

  • So if I remember correctly, the golden master is the final product just before public rollout, right?

So theoretically installing it would be the same build, even if I waited for the end of the month? Sorry if the question is dumb to some, I’ve been away from iPhone a while.

  • Yes, the GM build is the same as the final public release.

  • Awesome, thank you Gary.

There is a 5% chance it might be different 😛

But usually they are the same.

Yeah. I think it only happened once that they came out with a second GM. theoretically they have worked out all the bugs, but the whole point of releasing the GM early is just one last ditch attempt for dev to test for bugs. Both within the OS as well as their own apps.
