Back in March, the Japanese MacFan published what it claimed to be drawings of the 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch ‘iPhone 6’ models. Today, new images claiming to provide accurate dimensions of Apple’s next generation iPhone based on these drawings, have been shared by French blog iPhon.fr, according to which the ‘iPhone 6’ with a 4.7-inch display will measure 137.5 mm x 67 mm and will be only 7 mm in thickness.
[Machine Translation]: “If these images are used to get an overall idea of what should be the iPhone 6, it is much less easy to realize that give the machine in hand. This is why seeing happen accurate measurements is particularly interesting:It is once again on the Chinese social network Weibo , the following photos were posted. It reveals once again the iPhone, but these are the dimensions that concern us today.”
Comparing the alleged dimensions of a larger ‘iPhone 6’ to that of the iPhone 5s, the later is 123.8 mm long, 58.6 mm wide and 7.6 mm thick, meaning that the next iPhone will be both longer and wider than the current generation models. Similarly, these dimensions can be compared with those of the 5.1-inch Samsung Galaxy S5 which are 142 mm x 72.5 mm x 8.1 mm, the 4.9-inch Google Nexus 5 which are 137.9 mm x 69 mm, 8.6 mm as well as with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which has a 5.7-inch display and measures 79.2 mm x 151.2 mm x 8.3 mm.
Rumours of a dual iPhone 6 launch have been present since last year when Apple unveiled the iPhone 5c and 5s, as two iPhone lines could allow the company to continue the current pricing strategy. Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhones sometime this fall.
