Yesterday, we showed you how to enable the handy ‘Battery Saver’ mode to help you get a lot more mileage off a single charge in Pokémon Go, Nintendo’s latest game for smartphones which pretty much broke the internet when it released last week. Today, we have 8 more tips and tricks to help you level up quickly and much more, in order to become a real Pokémon master (via TIME).
Tip 1: Press and hold your Pokéball when making a catch
Pressing and holding down on the Pokéball before throwing will pull up a sort of bullseye over the creature you’re attempting to catch, making it easier to line up your shot.
Tip 2: Catch duplicates
Capturing multiple Pokémon of the same breed will help you gather more candy. Plus, it gives you experience points for leveling up.
Tip 3: Turn off AR
Toggling the AR switch in the upper corner of the screen will turn of AR. This stabilizes the camera and makes it easier to aim.
Tip 4: Use Incense to find Pokémon without walking
Using incense, an item in the game, can help lure creatures to you. The effect lasts for 30 minutes; trainers get two bottles of the stuff at the beginning of the game.
Tip 5: Follow the rustling leaves
If you see leaves floating around on the map, there’s a good chance you’ll find Pokémon nearby. You can also see the different types of creatures in your area by tapping the menu at lower right corner of the screen.
Tip 6: Send duplicate Pokémon to Professor Willow
If you have more than one of the same Pokémon, be sure to send the one with the fewest combat points.
Tip 7: Revisit Pokéstops
Pokéstops refresh over time, so visiting the same ones you’ve checked earlier in the day is one way to stock up on Pokéballs and other helpful goodies.
Tip 8: Look for Pokémon near their habitats
The types of Pokémon you’ll encounter also change depending on your surroundings. If you’re hoping to catch a Squirtle, for example, you might want to head to the beach.
