Firefox Home for iPhone Released: Sync Tabs, Bookmarks, History

Are you ever in a situation where you’re using Firefox at work or at home, but then have to head out the door? Ever want to continue where you left off? Well now you can as Firefox Home for iPhone has hit the App Store. This app will sync your open tabs, bookmarks, history, and passwords so you can browse them right on your iPhone.

The first step is to install the Firefox Sync plugin on your desktop browser. You’ll also need to create a Firefox Sync account so you can login with your iPhone. You can set preferences to choose what items you want to sync. I tested this out quickly and I must say it works great. Here are a couple pictures to show what it looks like:

…and here’s how it looks in Firefox Home (synced!):

The app uses Mobile Safari built in to surf to your open tabs. Of course, this isn’t the actual Firefox engine on the iPhone. We probably won’t see that anytime soon (unless you use CloudBrowse, which lets you control a remote Firefox browser–a passable solution to see Flash content). This app will be handy when you want to browse a URL on your iPhone that you’re browsing on your Mac/PC–just launch Firefox Home and BAM!

By the way, who’s still using Opera Mini for the iPhone? 😉
