Locate Starbucks and McDonalds on iPhone: Grande Getter and McFinder

Remember the free app TimmyMe, which would help you Tim Hortons lovers locate a location near you for your double-double fix? Well, the company behind TimmyMe, iDelux.ca has come back again with couple more free apps for you Starbucks and McDonalds lovers.

Grande Getter: Helps you find the Starbucks Across the Street from you

There’s nothing like visiting a Starbucks to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a latte. Hey, but it’s worth it for consistency right? Right now all I can think of is that Simpsons episode where every single store in a mall becomes a Starbucks. Here’s the transcript (from March of 1998!):

Employee: Can I help you?
Bart: I’d like to get my ear pierced.
Employee: Well, better make it quick, kiddo. In five minutes this place is becoming a Starbucks.

Bart gets his ear pierced, and has a diamond-shaped clear stone inserted into the new hole. As he leaves the store, it, like all of the other stores above and around it, is transformed into Starbucks.

Today, in major urban centres across the country it’s not hard to find two Starbucks locations across the street from each other (think Robson St. in Vancouver). However, what about when you’re away from the city and on a road trip? That’s where Grande Getter comes into play. The app uses your location to find the 5 closest Starbucks locations around you! Now when you have a Starbucks craving you can enjoy your tall, triple shot, extra-hot, non-fat, first steam, caramel macchiato easily with Grande Getter.

McFinder: Helping you Locate your Happy Meal

If you’re addicted to Tim Hortons and Starbucks, then chances are you also might be addicted to McDonalds too (or not). For those who can’t get enough free smiles in a day from McDonalds can now locate the 5 closest Rotten Ronnies with McFinder.

The app works the exact same way as Grande Getter and TimmyMe. Using your location on the iPhone you’ll be eating delicious Big Macs and 100s of nuggets in no time. Just make sure you supply your own stomach pump and have a defibrillator on standby when you have suffer a heart attack.

Gee, if only I had this app when I was in high school. We would be eating Micky D’s three times a day right about now because MONOPOLY’s back! Even though these two apps are free, they’re going to cost you more money when you splurge on a Venti Frappuccino to go along with your Double Quarter Pounder meal! So stop reading and go eat/drink yourself in oblivion! Enjoy! 😉

These are all great if you like those specific places. Personally, I like the app “Around Me”, as it doesn’t pick and choose. I can ask it what restaurants are “around me”, and it will list a bunch for me to choose from. If you haven’t checked Around Me out yet, I encourage you to do so! 🙂
Have a fantastic Thursday everyone.

Sorry, I should have informed you… YES, I did… thanks! I’m lovin’ it!! I switch out as needed depending on where I’m going and what I’m doing. This is one of my favs! For my travels, I found a very, very cool one called the “sidewinder”. Don’t know if you’ve had a chance to see it or not, but it’s a beauty!
OMG… I think I’m a case junkie 🙁 !!! LOL

for Starbucks locating, there’s also BucksMe from the same people that did TimmyMe, but it’s $0.99. and another is Coffee Finder (free), but seems to only be for the US

re: general restaurant finder, have you tried Urbanspoon? it works well in Canada, e.g. I’ve tested it around town in both Vancouver and Toronto. doesn’t locate Starbucks but good for general restaurants

While we’re adding other good apps. Locly is my personal favourite. According to your location, it finds events, restaurants, pubs and other stuff too. I do enjoy UrbanSpoon because you can see ratings, plus it links to dinehere.ca
I haven’t tried around me yet, but i’ve seen it on the Top 25 free list. I’ll check it out!

Locly is also another amazing app. You can also find people on Twitter nearby, along with restaurants and things to do to boot. 🙂

Personally, I like Around Me for the same reasons as listed above. Gives you some options. I could see someone using the Grande Getter app if they’re hooked on Starbucks, but the McDicks one might be a little much…

I’ve tried Urbanspoon, but it doesn’t support my city yet (Edmonton), which I find kind of hard to believe.. Great concept, but they need to add some more Canadian cities to their list.

I hope no one here has overlooked the fact that you can use the search function within the Maps App to search for things like “Starbucks” and “McDonalds.” It shows all locations on the map wherever you are and you can use the built in GPS.

iDelux and zuLabs have competing products, and for some reason multiple blogs are getting the two companies mixed up.
