They’re great. Both our iPhones have them. I’ve only got two minor gripes. Having been on the devices since November, so about six months now, in the last month or so the edges are slowly starting to peel off due to pocket lint slowly sticking to the edges and creeping further and further inward. I’ve got a black iPhone and no complaints other than the lint, but the wife’s got a white iPhone and the Invisible Shield has become pretty discoloured, making her phone look very reddish. Quite strange. But the stuff definitely gives you a better grip on the device, and no scratches. Just too bad I’ll have to reapply a new one at least once a year, from the looks of things. Wouldn’t be so bad if they were cheaper.

Figures that this deal would show up literally two days after I ordered my first IS. Oh well I suppose — at least I got the 20% discount still for using the iPhoneinCA promotion code 🙂

I agree.

The Invisishield are great for protection of the phone– my phone takes lots of abuse and has no visible signs of wear as a result of the shield– however, I also agree that they discolour quickly and tend to peel at the edges.

The replacement warranty sounds excellent when viewed on paper or website, however, in practise, I find that it is a little bit odd. Here is my beef with the warranty. We pay shipping. First time it was $5 to ship two for both the phones, the next time it was $7. We also pay shipping to get the old shield back to their office; this is done to prevent one purchased shield from covering all your family and friend’s phones by using warranty replacement.

I understand the need, but the shields begin to discolour after 3 months of use. After 8 months they are really bad and cause distortions in the screen image. So, I am replacing mine every 6 – 8 months. $7 a shot. I really really doubt that these cost THAT much to ship, and I also expect that the material cost isn’t that high. They certainly are not losing money with the warranty replacement program; in fact, I’ll bet it is a large part of their business profit model.

Ah well, the film is amazingly resistant to scratches and has kept my phone clean and blemish free for a year. I guess I’ll just have to live with a $14 a year “ongoing maintenance plan” for the phones…

Recommend the shield, just make sure you understand the added investment required and that you understand the regular removal and replacement maintenance that is also required.

cheers!!

Thanks for the comment. I have also heard about the color change on white iPhones. I guess the plastic changes over time, but of course I don’t notice it on my black iPhone 3G. 😉

My shield skin color changes always on my iPhone 1G after a couple weeks when replacing, plus that depends what type of atmosphere ur working or being in. But mines all a dark and dirty color 🙁 lol It doesn’t stay all shiny new looking 😛 It protects though!

I use the Belkin Wave case and the Invisible Shield front cover.. its amazing how i don’t even notice that its there and how it makes it a non-fingerprint surface all in all im very very happy with this and glad that i spent the money on it..

As for the guy above me ..ive had my invisible shield for almost a year now and i have 0 discolouring, a little dirt got under the wholes for the earpiece and the home button but with a simple paper clip i cleaned it out and pressed the film back down and its perfectly fine altho it didn’t look like it was going to be at first it was fine the next day. The discolouration that was mentioned.. i have yet to see. I keep my iphone screen clean all the time i don’t like smudges or anything on it. Also i work as a kitchen manager and have to touch my phone with greasy hands and its still clear at it could ever be.

Having the back invisibleSHIELD installed makes it pretty much impossible to put on any other case. I know of lots of friends who are only using the front piece. Makes the install a lot easier too!

Like I said, the wife’s iPhone is white. The discolouration is incredibly easy to see over the white plastic. Mine is black. If it’s discoloured on my phone, I certainly can’t see it. But on the white phone it’s beyond obvious. The thing’s very red.
