You Can Now Jailbreak iOS 16.4.1 with Palera1n 2.0.0 Beta 6
Codenamed Bakepale, the latest v2.0.0 beta 6 update to jailbreak tool Palera1n has just been released, which fully supports iOS 16.4 - iOS 16.4.1 jailbreak.
iPhone 3GS ultrasn0w Unlock Video Revealed!
The iPhone Dev Team late last night revealed something we didn’t expect so soon–a video of the iPhone 3GS being unlocked via ultrasn0w! Here’s what they had to say:
Our ultrasn0w program uses the at+xlog crash as an injection vector of our unlocking payload — and it does so on the 3GS in exactly the same way as on the 3G! But this injection vector will be lost if you update to 3.1 using the official Apple IPSW, which updates the baseband. So stay away from official 3.1 IPSWs until we release the tools that let you update the firmware without updating the baseband.

GeoHotz Releases iPhone 3GS Jailbreak–for Windows Only
Unofficial iPhone hacker George Hotz has released a jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS. Under the name of purplera1n.com, it is for Windows only. I haven’t tried this 3GS jailbreak out, but I would only recommend it if you feel confident with using “other” means of jailbreaking. Personally, I’d stick with the iPhone Dev Team.
This is some exciting stuff for iPhone 3GS users looking to jailbreak/unlock their phones. Stay tuned for more good news, and like always, do not update to the 3.1 firmware if you’re looking to jailbreak use the ultrasn0w unlock on your iPhone 3GS/3G!

If I understand correctly, it’s “do not update to the 3.1 firmware if you’re looking to UNLOCK your 3G/3GS.”
They can both still be jailbroken, just not unlocked with the new baseband update.
Yeah, this is my understanding, as well. It is the unlock that will be compromised, if you update to 3.1, due to the baseband update. The jailbreak will still work

I’ve read some bad things about purplera1n. Like it only works on XP, many 3rd party programs don’t work, like Winterboard, and some people have lost their WiFi after the jailbreak.
It’s tempting, but I’m gonna wait for the Dev Team to release theirs.
Yeah, sounds enticing but I can imagine some people running into major problems with this early release.
I jailbroke using purplera1n today, and it’s actually working really well, wifi works still, winterboard is the only program that doesn’t. otherwise it seems to be ok. I’d wait for the dev teams jailbreak though because it’s always safer and well tested.
