
Rogers Updates Cancellation Policy for Data-Only Accounts

Effective October 5 2009, Rogers Wireless customers, both new and existing, that have Data-Only accounts will be subject to an ECF (Early Cancellation Fee) of $400 (maximum).
Data Early Cancellation Fee Policy Update
If a customer has Rogers Wireless service that is Data-Only, then that customer is subject to the new ECF change.
A Data-Only account means the customer does not have any Voice services attached to their phone number. In other words, this policy update applies to
- Customers of the Rogers Internet Stick
- Customers that have a Smartphone with no Voice Plan and only a Data Plan.
Summary of ECF & DECF Changes
Voice-Only Customers (stayed the same)
- ECF: The greater of $100 or $20 per month remaining in the service agreement term, to a maximum of $400 (plus applicable taxes).
- DECF (Data Early Cancellation Fee): N/A
- Total Cost: Maximum $400 (plus applicable taxes).
Data-Only Customers (changed)
- ECF: The greater of $100 or $20 per month remaining in the service agreement term, to a maximum of $400 (plus applicable taxes).
- DECF: N/A
- Total Cost: Maximum $400 (plus applicable taxes).
Voice and Data Customers (stayed the same)
- ECF: The greater of $100 or $20 per month remaining in the service agreement term, to a maximum of $400 (plus applicable taxes).
- DECF: The greater of $25 or $5 per month remaining in the data term, to a maximum of $100 (plus applicable taxes)
- Total Cost: Maximum $500 (plus applicable taxes).
