Man, evenings at nine? WTF? I still have an old plan with Fido where the evenings start at five, they have tried their darnest to get me to move to another plan trying to throw me freebies, but none of the current plans even comes close,
Bummer, I was really hoping some increased GSM competition would lead to some decent plans, looks like that this will stay a dream.
so the only difference between the $50 plan and the $70 plan is 50 more minutes… wow, they're taking a page right out of Rogers' books… this isn't competition, it's collaboration
…at least they won't be charging EXTRA for tethering in the new year like Rogers…
I assume (and could be wrong) there's a typo in the data? I think 35 is probably 500 mb, and 50 is probably 1 gig leaving the 70 as 2 gig making the price differences make a bit more sense and more in line with Bells rates (still cheaper from Telus from what I can see in both leaked sets.
If these are correct though I'll be buying out of my bell contract to switch over, the savings would be worth it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: This is a clear case of collusion/collaboration. Where's the competition? Is anyone really surprised by this? Once again the Canadian public gets the big middle digit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still only 3-year plans. WTF? Canadian carriers truly don't offer any real options.
Okay, I can't say this about the upper plans cuz they seem of less value for the upgrades (especially the $100 plan, wtf?), but come on people the base plan is amazing in value!
That's 250 minutes, unlimited e/w (9pm sucks, yes), visual vm (which implies caller ID), 500mb data, and unlimited sms/mms all for $35 without SAF/911!!!? To compare (include SAF + 911) that would be a $27.55 plan on Rogers/Fido. The “value packs”, a term i'd use loosely, at Fido/Rogers cost more than that, never mind the base plan and hidden fees!
Agreed! It's BS!
Again, my current Rogers plan seems better.
You can have Visual Voicemail without called ID actually, I do.
I agree though that this $35 plan is really nice for light users. I'd switch to a similar plan if Fido had it because I really don't use a lot of minutes or data.
Any idea on US roaming data rates?
While the data is far less than the 6gigs I'm getting from Fido, I'm not coming close to using 6gigs in a month for my $100+ plan.
A drop down to 2gigs and tethering for $70 a month would be a reasonable option. I will be waving this at Fido.. or I'm gone.
Oh, and agreed.. 9p isnt an “evening” it's “bar star”
Agreed! It's actually looking quite welcoming, just slap on a caller ID and u are set
Evening start at 9 but who cares does anyone use their phone for talking anymore? (maybe white people)
Visual Vociemail absolutely does not imply caller id. the service is available without caller i.d. on all other iphone carriers
oh really? so how does it show up? just a bunch of “Unknown” callers in a list?
That's only for people under 1GB data tethering. I asked a Fido rep a few months a go when the tethering was introduced and we found out about the new year changes.
aww I was stoked about that 35 dollar plan… if the telus employees know anything about the plans they aren't saying anything. I asked three seperate locations but walked away with no more detailed information plans. One did say that they would all be above $50 per month….
If you went on the telus website and read the like * crap it would say 3 year agreement with like 50 dollars or over in value or something like that.
You get a caller id only for the calls that leave a voicemail.

I wouldn't hold any of these plans to heart. these are simply rumors. Either a source should be revealed to give credibility to these “iPhone” plans…I would wait until Thursday Nov. 5th . I can honestly say with 100% confidence there is no truth to these plans, these are simply rumors.
Cya on Thursday
🙂
For sure XL, I would be surprised if that's what Telus is coming to market with for the biggest quarter of the year. I'm on the inside and I don't even know what the plans are yet.
Telus has a HUGE opportunity here to actually offer a compelling reason to switch to Telus, in addition to securing a a large amount of contract renewals/extensions. If they offered that $50 plan with 1GB data for a limited time, you can bet many would hop on that in a heartbeat. Adding something else, on top of 1GB, like caller ID or early evenings/weekends would be a deal closer.
really? They are posted on elearning.
send me the link if you can…It's definitely not been released yet to the public.
totally agree
No, def not public yet but I saw them posted late Sunday evening on the
Telus elearning site.
its just the normal telustraining URL and then your username/pass
I knew the $35 wasnt for real when i saw it . No chance lol .
I said this before like a month or 2 ago when this website announced Telus Iphone. i said dont expect any deals.
they are just going to slide right in to the rogers price grid. no deals for Telus users lol
Does anyone know if the telus iphone plan ($50) is going to include call display with the visual voicemail?
I know you can have VVM without CID, but just wondering if it will be part of the package.
Also, is anyone is aware of any more updates on the telus plans?
Nothing yet
yeah – bring your own K-Y
I called Telus retentions on Monday evening and they told me they knew absolutely nothing of these iPhone plans. They also talked to me about the negotiation of data plans. Their exact words were “we've never negotiated data plans and we never will”. I told them I'd call back on Thursday.
I also sent Telus an e-mail (no response) inquiring about something to win over new clients. Obviously, I'm hoping Telus can do MUCH better than what's displayed here. The $50 plan is OK at best. 500MB is a complete joke. They also need to throw in Caller ID and bump up the anytime minutes to more than 150.
It's typical for Telus/Bell/Rogers to deny acknowledgment of plans that are
not public knowledge yet. You will see these plans on Thursday.
It's definitely not surprising how all of the plans from 3 carriers are not
spectacular. They know that if you want the iPhone, you will have to pay for
it.
Doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy like Apple used to, gone are the days of gleefully purchasing a fun and beautifully designed item.
Not only are cell phone carriers infamous for securing high priced contracts, now they want signed contracts from Granny for cable on her new HDTV! Highway robbery. I have always owned my own phone and shopped the carrier and now they have made shopping pointless. I might go back to my Ericsson blue flip phone with no texting and no location services – now that would screw up their business models!
Hilarious… Will we ever see unlimited data in this country– or are we destined to have to fight for every stupid kb
We'll definitely be fighting for every kb in this country! When everyone was so excited that increased competition would = better prices, I always maintained my stance with skepticism.
As I mentioned above, 500MB on a data plan??? If that is even offered, it should be free! That's how incredibly stupid that is.
Telus, being the last big wireless company in Canada to offer the iPhone, has such a HUGE opportunity here. They can completely show up Rogers/Fido/Bell and have the entire country LOVE them and go to them. If they don't capitalize tomorrow, there'd be no choice but to pity them.
Reserved an 16GB iphone from telus today. Will pick up tomorrow and probably go on the $50 plan.
Did you call on the phone? Are you an existing customer?
How did you do that? I still just want to know from Telus if they are going to let me get the phone for $299 if I re-sign a 3-year contract, even though I am only 15 months into my current 3-year or if they are only going to give me the $150 off the 32 GB… all this suspense – you'd think they'd be a little more forthcoming since they are the last carrier to actually introduce the phone…
I reserved my 32GB 3GS a few weeks ago by paying the $150 deposit. I've been with Telus for 6 years and my current 3 year contract actually expires in February. Obviously, I'm within the 6 month re-negotiation period (i.e. – over 30 months), so I'm good to go.
I just went into the Telus store in Orchard Park mall in Kelowna. Asked to reserve a iPhone for tomorrow and they asked for my name and phone number.
They said I could come pick it up tomorrow, as they were expecting them to arrive about 11:00am.
Forgot to add that I am an existing customer. Contract ends on Dec 3rd.
They didn't ask me if I was a customer though, just for my name and phone number.
I wonder if they will actual hold it.
I am laughing… my Rogers plan is so much better than Bell and Telus. What a joke. I will never at any cost anyways have a Bell Product. I can't stand that company or it's Customer Service.
No even initial promotion for data, similar to Rogers/Fido offering ?
This is just not fair for iphone, which got tons of apps – all web oriented.
Rhhhh !!!
actually, it looks like you get unlimited *nationwide* calling & texting to your fav5. That's a fair bit more value than just local on the $50 plan.
I will never sign any mobile phone contract with of these companies! Rather the actual price of the iPhone upfront, these companies actually make more money when they sign you to a 3 year deal.
