Google Goggles Headed For iPhone?

Google recently released an Android-exclusive application called “Goggles“. The new app allows users to search Google by either using Augmented Reality or photos taken by an Android device camera.

For example, users could take a photo of the cover of a book and Google search would attempt to recognize the photo and return search results. So instead of searching by typing words, users search by photo.

Google Goggles is a visual search app for Android phones. Instead of using words, take a picture of an object with your camera phone: we attempt to recognize the object, and return relevant search results. Goggles also provides information about businesses near you by displaying their names directly in the camera preview.

At the time, this was an Android-exclusive setup, however Google has indirectly confirmed that Goggles will be making its way to other platforms, such as the iPhone, in the near future. Spokeswoman Katie Watson acknowledged that Google is developing the new Goggles feature for the “most popular” phones and platforms:

It is our intention to quickly develop Goggles for the most popular mobile handsets and platforms. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific timeframe to share.

While this is definitely not a confirmed feature for the iPhone, the prospect is there and hopefully iPhone users will see this very soon.

Neat application if it does make its ay over to iPhone… which im sure it will unless Apple is still having its temper tamer with Google.
The iPhone does already have a few types of these applications in development right now.
Its really to see what phones can do now a days.
