Bell To Increase Roaming Rates On May 1, 2010

In the last week, Bell has revealed some great wireless promotions. Bell has debuted a free $35 activation fee, free 6PM early evenings, and more recently, six months of unlimited local calling. Unfortunately, these Bell promotions are mostly reserved for new customers.

Well existing (and new) Bell customers, Bell has some bad news for you. Effective May 1, 2010, Bell will be increasing its wireless roaming rates for calls and text messages.

Bell Roaming Increases

All incoming and outgoing calls from the United States will be charged at a rate of $1.45/min. The current rate is $0.99, depending on your wireless package.

Sent text messages while roaming will be charged at $0.75/text message. The current rate is $0.60/sent text message.

Maybe all of those great promotions were just to hide the ugly truth?

Well I've canceled my contract and as of April 17 will not be tied to Bell at all, I've had enough of their BS.

Let's hope the other carriers don't follow suit.

Hey does this mean I can get out of my contract?

I've heard that if they change your contract you can get out of your obligation….

Anyone ever try this?
