Apple Releases iTunes 9.2

Today, Apple released the latest iTunes 9.2. The new iTunes is available on a PC/Mac via Apple Software Update or from Apple’s website.

The new iTunes 9.2 update brings support for iPhone 4, iOS 4 features, and several other enhancements and improvements listed below:

  • Sync with iPhone 4 to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on-the-go
  • Sync and read books with iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4 and iBooks 1.1
  • Organize and sync PDF documents as books. Read PDFs with iBooks 1.1 on iPad and any iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
  • Organize your apps on your iOS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes
  • Faster back-ups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
  • Album artwork improvements make artwork appear more quickly when exploring your library

The iTunes 9.2 update also delivered several security fixes detailed in this support document.

As usual, if you’re jailbroken or plan to jailbreak, it is best to avoid the iTunes 9.2 update until further notice.

Will this update allow a 3GS to update to iOS 4? (I'll just shift+resore, not update)
I'm also not jailbroken and I DO have the iOS 4 software

This is from the development team, MuscleNerd:
“Don't install today's iTunes 9.2 if you plan on using Spirit for fresh JB (but it's fine for PwnageTool & redsn0w users)”

i was allready jailbroken prior to installing itunes 9.2 (via redsn0w), and it seems to work fine except for when I click the “x” to skip the long backup process in syncing. it'll skip it then update my contacts/appointments/notes, etc. then give me a msg saying “iTunes could not sync data because iPhone disconnected”…it did in fact sync though….that's the only issue i've been having.

if we aren't a developer and don't have a registered UDID can we sync with the actual 9.2 not the beta without bricking our phones if we have the 4.0 GM?

Should be fine.
The GM Seed is basically the final release.
