You Can Now Jailbreak iOS 16.4.1 with Palera1n 2.0.0 Beta 6
Codenamed Bakepale, the latest v2.0.0 beta 6 update to jailbreak tool Palera1n has just been released, which fully supports iOS 16.4 - iOS 16.4.1 jailbreak.
iPhone 4 Jailbroken!!
“Well, that didn’t take long”, is something I have found myself saying after each iPhone software and hardware release, for the past year or so. It seems the current iPhone hackers know right where to look, when trying to find new exploits in the latest firmware and hardware.
comex, of the The iPhone Dev Team, and creator of the Spirit jailbreak, has found another userland exploit in iOS 4. Just like Spirit, this could be used to jailbreak all devices on iOS 4, including iPhone 4!! planetbeing, and musclenerd are reporting on Twitter, about the new exploit:
Planetbeing: Think I’m the first one I know about to get a root shell (and SSH) on iPhone 4, using poor @comex’s code (since he has no iPhone 4).

This is huge news! This will most likely come as an update to the current Spirit jailbreak tool, but we don’t have confirmation on that. There is no release date yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

As far as I know, there is a userland and a bootrom exploit, I believe they're using the userland exploit for this. They should wait for the appropriate time before burning these exploits.
they should wait till iPad 4.0 update.
From my understanding, this isn't ready for release yet. There maybe an update to iOS 4 as soon as Monday (to fix the Death Grip issue), so it probably won;t be out before then, at least. It may not release at all, depending on if they can package it right. Apparently, they have to use some Apple software to deploy this right now, and they obviously can't release something that is not theirs. Great first step though.
This is awesome! That screenshot looks nice and crisp. Can't wait to try this when they release it (and I get my iPhone 4)!
Good to see… now I just have to decide if putting iOS 4 on my 3G will be worth it. I've heard some horror stories of 3G phones slowing to a crawl after 4.0 was installed on them.
This will be out way before the iPhone 4 is released in Canada. 🙂
I've heard the horror stories too, but was very happy to see that my 3G actually runs much better on iOS4 than it did on the last release.
In my opinion, they shouldn't have released iOS4 for the 3G. It is terribly slow. I would suggest staying at 3.1.3.
Great news. Redsn0w was complicated compared to these “one click jailbreak” programs, but however, Redsn0w did give the option to enable multitasking, battery percentage, and wallpapers for older devices. On an iPod Touch 2G, even with all those features enabled, there was only minimal lag when opening up an app, noticeable, but not unbearable.
Awesome! If It isn't already, I hope MyWi gets updated when it comes out too. That's s major reason for my to jailbreak, that's and SMS quickreply apps. I'm looking forward to it
Noooo! Lol I can only speak for myself but I only really use cydia apps on my iPhone. The only reason I could find to jailbreak my iPad was active sync for some of the expensive $10 apps.
So I would rather have my iPhone jailbroken now with a slim chance of not have my iPad jail broken again till next year.
ios4 on my 3g is crazy slow, and very buggy. including when you change songs on the ipod mid way it makes a loud skipping sound
you dont get any of the major features, if you dont need folders, dont do it 😛

My main one is SBSettings…such a phenomenal JB app!
Its an App called BiteSMS (there are others too) and when you get a Text while your phone is in your pocket (locked) or during use of another App, it allows you to reply right on the stop.
Example. Lock screen will show a message from your Friend Mike, touch mikes message and a keyboard pops up allowing you to reply right on the spot without having to unlock, then opening your messages app.
Same with others apps, it opens up a bubble window with a keyboard ready for your reply without having to close your currently running App.
its probably one of the main reasons i jailbreak, just for quick reply (BiteSMS) also iRealSMS is a good one too.

Redsnow isn't that complicated. When Blackra1n initially came out it was more complicated since it left out some bits which prevented the entire dir structure from being listed in Iphone browser. However the community did follow up with patches and better revs of the JB from Blackra1n.

My 3G iPhone's tethering option disappeared after jailbreak. Anyone having this issue?
