Today, Apple finally updated the webpages for the company’s retail stores to reflect the iPhone 4 launch.
Canadian Apple Retail stores will open at 7AM on Friday July 30, 2010 for the iPhone 4 launch. There will be lines and it is first come, first served. As we have said previously, there is a limit of two iPhones per customer.

Arriving at your favourite Apple Retail Store on 30 July. Stores open at 7:00 a.m. iPhone 4 is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit two per person.
Canadians will have three methods to get their iPhone 4:
1.) Canadians will be able to order the unlocked, full price iPhone 4 16/32GB in Black through the Apple Canada Online Store starting Friday July 30. Any online orders are shipped to the billing address (no store pickup).
2.) As an alternative for the unlocked iPhone 4, customers can also visit their local Apple Store to purchase an outright, unlocked iPhone 4 starting Friday July 30. There will be line-ups this weekend.
3.) For customers that want iPhone 4 locked on contracts with activations or upgrades (usually with promotional pricing), visit your local Apple Store or Canadian wireless dealer (Rogers, Bell, Virgin, Fido, Telus) store starting Friday July 30. There will be line-ups this weekend.
To summarize, if you want your iPhone 4 IMMEDIATELY, do either method 2 or method 3 above.
Also, at this time Apple has still not updated their iPhone 4 online store page to reflect iPhone 4 pricing or the official release date. The iPhone 4 store page still lists “Coming soon.”

So does this mean that you can order the phone on the website on contract? Whatdo you think would be the approximate arrival date?
They say line ups “this weekend”.
This would indicate Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This means Apple predicts iphone stock to not be gone after day 1, and to at least be available up until the end of the weekend. Hopefully this means Apple has finally met supply with demand.

If i like in a small city with about 50,000 people what time would be good to go and get the iphone 4? like in the mall theres 4 different places i can buy the phone with virgin mobile

I spoke to an apple csr earlier today and inquired about the stock availability for the Canada Launch and he said that there should be enough stock bu you shuld expect lineups. He said in US they sold 3 million phones in 3 days. Since Canada's population is roughly 1/10th therefore i think we should have atleast 300000 phones in our quota for this launch. He also said that in the 2nd and 3rd week people were able to leave the store with an iphone 4 in hand within 1 hour for the US launch therefore the trend should be similar in Canada since there are 4 major carriers selling them along with 2 nationwide electric storesas well as the Apple store.
I think we will be ok for the stock this time around — but there will definately be long lineups. We can sleep well tonight 🙂
We should also expect the Rogers (and other carriers) and Apple websites to crash due to heavy orders during the first weekend.

I'm still not sure if Apple Stores will be able to sell unlocked phones to people who are already on Rogers and are doing an upgrade. Does it have to be locked to Rogers as soon as they add it to my account? Can they even do hardware upgrades for Rogers? Or is it my best bet to go to a Rogers store instead of the Apple Store?

ive been calling around to ask about stocks and nobody confirms there gonna have some on friday morning and some dealers dont do HUP just new activation or if u do an HUP u have to buy a data plan so it means every rogers store will have its on rule depending if its a franchise or not…
So we can order at midnight Thursday Night/Friday Morning at Apple Online?? When can we expect delivery of the iPhone 4?? Since i live in NS and the nearest Apple Store is 14 hours away 🙁

If you buy an unlocked iPhone 4 for like 700/800$ then all you have to do is go to a Rogers store and pick up a micro sim card and have Rogers activate that micro sim by phone. Or you can take the sim card you're using with Rogers right now and cut it down to micro sim size.

I am planning to stand in line for rogers at 6 am till 10 am when the store opens. If it turns out that they are out of stock of the phone by the time it comes to me, can I just go an apple store, say fairview afterwards like around 12pm and just get the phone there? Would there still be huge line ups? Do you think Rogers will have enough stock for me if I come around 6 in the morning and wait 4 hours?

What's wrong with you people ? what can't you understand about July 30th launch , or even the process to purchase the phone. It's pretty cut and dry folks. Buy unlocked outright at apple store or online only or go to the other 5 carriers for contract purchases.
What's really funny is that I registered my interest on the Telus Mobility site when they started that and I never have received an email from Telus about the iPhone 4, not even confirming the release date or where to get it.
Anyone in Ottawa planning on lining up at the Apple Store? I don't want to renew my 3 year so I'm going to buy the unlocked version @ the Apple Store.
Or just let Apple take care of the microsim transfer for you.

you have it the other way around. Go to the apple store for 6 or whatever, wait until it opens at 7. If they have no stock for you, then go wait in the rogers line until they open at 10.
Apple will sell unlocked phones to anyone. You aren't doing an upgrade–an unlocked iPhone 4 has nothing to do with any carrier, so you can buy it any amount of time into your contract–of course, you have to pay full price for it. With rogers/apple, you'd get a microSIM card and activate it, then put it in your iPhone. The microSIM would then be tied to your rogers account/contract (if you're still on contract). The unlocked iPhone 4 is always going to be unlocked.
ok so I work in Burnaby at 9am on friday. What time would I have to get to the Apple Store in Pacific Centre to make sure I get in and out with a phone and be able to make it back to Burnaby by 9am? I'm thinking I'd have to be one of the first few in line because I don't see the line moving quickly at 7am
so no need to bring the phone with me and apple will HUP me for rogers ???
The online store uses a completely different supply than the stores, they set them aside beforehand according to how many purchases they expect for each point of sale. The carriers haven't announced hours yet, I guess you should call your preferred store to check once they put out information.

I live in a similarly sized town, and my stores (unless they announce special opening times) all open at about 10 AM. If that is their time, I'd line up around 5-6 AM, but there would probably already be people in line by then.
