Dev-Team: No Jailbreak Coming For iOS 4.0.2

Today, the Dev-Team announced that there will not be a jailbreak coming for iOS 4.0.2.

With the Jailbreakme.com being one of the most successful and easiest jailbreak methods ever to jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 and earlier, Apple quickly closed that hole with iOS 4.0.2. If you have not yet updated to iOS 4.0.2, good! That means you can still jailbreak.

On the other hand, if you have updated to iOS 4.0.2 or received a new iPhone with iOS 4.0.2, there is no official jailbreak method at this time.

Since Apple only released iOS 4.0.2 to essentially block the jailbreakme.com exploit, the Dev Team has decided that it is more useful to provide a jailbreak for the upcoming iOS 4.1 than to provide one now for iOS 4.0.2 and potentially jeopardize an iOS 4.1 jailbreak.

So if you currently have iOS 4.0.1, try your best to avoid that update button in iTunes!

skype vs globalinx?
i personnally used globalinx because of the advantages it gives to call any number in 75 countries, i dont need the other person to have skype to talk. it uses my wifi or 3G connection to talk instead of my minutes. i basically rarely use my carriers minute because i always have acces to an internet connexion. my plan of 500 megs per month is more than enough for all my personal use and use my iphone to the max.

What do you think about it?

Is iOS 4.1 coming out in September?

alex_sebenski

Really? Anyone confirm that their iPhone 4 came with 4.0.2?

if so can you downgrade to 4.0.1??

alex_sebenski

If your iPhone came with 4.0.2 there is no way to downgrade to 4.0.1.

If you jailbroke your phone while on an earlier firmware and Cydia asked you to store your SHSH (“Make my life easier” button) before 4.0.2 came out then you probably can downgrade.

I just got my phone. It came with 4.0.2 and you can’t downgrade to 4.0.1 anymore.

guess I will have to hope 4.1 comes out soon then. Still waiting for the phone anyways!

We’ve been told that 4.1 will be out sometime in the fall. Sometime between September and November.

For those of you who are considering switching from Rogers just because you cant get hold of an iphone call or TXT me. I have a great solution for you if you are in the Toronto GTA area and want an iPhone 4 32 GB (with free Rogers microSIM and free case through Apple) straight from rogers on your HUP or new activation. So dont pay $ 500 + cancellation penalties just because Rogers wont give you an iphone 4.

Call or TXT at 416-834-9283.

Thanks!

Dev-Team: will Jailbreak iOS 4.0.2, and you will see that…..Apple mostly releases new firmware just to fill the hole, so apple will not need to release new firmware UNLESS a major issue such as security is found…Apple is now more comfortable with Dev-team decision and will take its time for NOT releasing the 4.1.

Smart move to wait for 4.1. Beta testing has finished a while ago, shouldn’t take long now

Do you get a confirmation email directly after you order the Iphone case? I am sorry I know this is not the right place to ask

I just got an iPhone 4 and sadly it came with 4.0.2. I’ll just have to wait until 4.1 is out and when a jb is available.

I miss my SBSettings.

Mine came with 4.0.2 too. It sucks because I don’t think you can restore back to 4.0.1 anymore can you?

FYI my brother bought one yesterday form Wirelesswave and it came with 4.0.1. He was banking on it since he’s heading down to Costa Rica and was hoping to unlock.

alex_sebenski

No, you can’t. Apple stopped signing SHSH blobs for 4.0.1 some time ago.

The jailbreak for 4.1 will come out pretty quickly once it’s released and that’ll probably be pretty soon. As soon as 2 weeks, or maybe a month or two.

Patience. You’ll have SBsettings someday.

I tried and we can’t downgrade. My iPhone 4 is a 2 week old unit from someone who bought two (one unlocked and one locked). I purchased the locked one and was hoping he jailbroke it but apparently it came with 4.02 so no point.

Here’s a newbie question. If my iPhone 4 is jailbroken now (currently on 4.0.1), how do you update the phone’s firmware to 4.1 when they release it and still keep the jailbreak? Do I update, then lose the jailbreak, then reapply the jailbreak after it’s available? I understand I have to wait until there is a release but just wondering if there’s a sequence that has to be followed.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

The one that I ordered on launch day and received in Monday had 4.0.2…

Apple did not only release 4.0.2 to block the jailbreak… They did it to fix an important security hole that someone could use to compromise your phone…

Yes the jailbreak can fix this security hole… But for those of us like me that do not care about the jailbreak, I’m happy to see that apple fixed this security problem…

Preferably, restore & update, then re-jailbreak no?

And what’s “deserving what you get”? There’s nothing negative about a jailbreak, it just allows you to do whatever you want on your phone rather than abiding by Apple’s idiotic restrictions.
