Hotmail To Receive ActiveSync Support For iOS Devices

This is absolutely epic news for Hotmail users who own an iDevice.

CNET is reporting that next week on August 30, 2010 (Monday), Microsoft will deliver on the features promised as part of the latest update to Hotmail. The epic feature is Exchange ActiveSync which will allow Hotmail users to receive push e-mail for free on their mobile devices such as an iPhone.

There are many devices out there that support ActiveSync for connecting to an Exchange Server, such as the iPhone, but this new Hotmail update will be very useful to owners of the latest tech such as the iPhone 4, where users can have dual ActiveSync accounts.

Also, it is worth noting that the new Hotmail update can be experienced by users that do not have an Exchange Server but as long as they have a device that supports ActiveSync.

I have many colleagues who have been waiting a long time to receive some kind of push/IMAP support with their Hotmail accounts, so this new Hotmail update has been a long time coming.

Are you a Hotmail user? What do you think of this new update?
