App Review: Firemint’s Real Racing

This week I have been playing Real Racing by Firemint. I’ve always loved racing games (do you remember Atari’s Pole Position?) and this has to be one of my favourites I’ve tried on some time. This is the full game to the free app Real Racing GTI which you can download and try for free here.

Real Racing has won a number of awards and after playing it is easy to see why. There are a number of different tracks todrive and cars to race requiring certain achievements to unlock. There are 5 games modes including a multiplayer mode to challenge up to 6 friends via Wi-Fi, and Career, Quick Race and Time Trial modes. You can also view leaderboards and achievements in Apple’s Game Center.

The tracks and scenery themselves look fantastic. Race through deserts and forests through tunnels and around chicanes as you vie to place first. The ability to use the iPhone’s accelerometer to steer adds to the fun, and of course there is an option to touch to steer.
