Do you envy BlackBerry users because they have BBM? Do you wish you can text anyone in real-time with your iPhone without those expensive charges?
Now you can with Kik. Kik is a real time messenger app that that allows you to talk to your friends on any phone anywhere over the world.
It doesn’t cost any money and only uses less than 1kb of data per message. To begin using Kik all you need to do is to create an account/username.
When I had a BlackBerry and used BBM, one of the greatest features was the little letter icon that told you if a message was sent, delivered and read. Well Kik has that too! So now you will know whether someone has read your message or is ignoring you.
When chatting on Kik you will see a bubble chat -like that on the iPhone, and you can actually change the color of your bubble.
In Kik all of your messages appear on the main screen and if you want to check your contacts or clear a conversation, you can just click the icons on the top and bottom left.
There are five features that I wish Kik had or will add in future updates. One I wish is that I could send attachments or pictures to my contacts.
Second, I wished Kik had more customizable options besides just changing the chat bubble color. I would like to see the option to change my font color and type choices, and also being able to display pictures. That would’ve been nice!
Third, I wished Kik had different status options like away, busy, offline, etc.
Fourth, it would be cool an option to add a little message beside your display name.
Finally, I want the option to create groups.

If you have many friends or family worldwide and want to talk to them in real time or you just find you phone bill to high due to text messaging then Kik is right for you.
Kik is a good app to start; we’ll see how it evolves in the future.
