Next Greenpois0n Release RC6 to Jailbreak New Apple TV on iOS 4.2.1

Joshua Hill, also known as @p0sixninja (part of the Greenpois0n jailbreak), tweeted earlier that the RC6 build will include Apple TV support. So if you’ve been asking the question “how can I jailbreak my second gen Apple TV on iOS 4.2.1?”, that will soon be answered. Joshua mentions that @nitotv has already accomplished most of the work involved. Stay tuned!

Apple TV is still a “hobby” but for the price it can’t be beat. Netflix integration alone is perfect.

I agree with Gary. The Apple TV for $119 has been a good investment for our family. The HD Netflix integration was worth the price of admission alone and the integration with iTunes on our home network has also worked well. We can play any iTunes content we purchased (music videos, music and movies/TV shows) on our large screen LCD TV. Sure it can be improved upon and it will only get better as more content can be streamed from the internet or from our computers. It would be nice, for instance, if we could stream non-iTunes content from our computers to the large screen TV.

Apple TV + XBMC could be the golden goose.

It absolutely is. I’ve finally be able to retire the old Xbox and run XBMC on the atv2. It’s silent, tiny, looks nice, can handle 720p/1080p (if it’s h264/x264).

My only complaint, if you can call it that, is there’s no non-digital audio output. So to use it for airtunes I need my monitor on. It’d be nice to just play music through it /wo turning on the monitor.
