WiFi Issues Resurface In iOS 4.3.3?

According to posts on Apple’s support forums, many users are reportedly having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi hotspots. Apparently after updating to iOS 4.3.3, an iOS device may start spontaneously dropping connections, repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting, or failing to connect.

Other experiences point to the WiFi status as being misreported by showing a WiFi connection but not actually being connected. No permanent solution has yet been identified, with the majority of users simply doing a network reset.

This is not the first time users have reported WiFi problems with iOS, as one of the more popular WiFi issues first being reported with the iPad after the original iPad launch. However, this new report on iOS 4.3.3 seems to affect all supported iOS devices.

I have not been affected by this WiFi problem at all. However, I have (and many other Canadians) been affected by random carrier signal drops as reported here.

Are any of your iOS 4.3.3 devices having WiFi problems?

I was having problems earlier today. Showed that WiFi was connected but their was no Internet access. Also, I had my iPad 2 with me, connected to the same network. No problems at all with using the Internet! Both devices are on 4.3.3.

Since the upgrade, I have noticed more dropped Rogers 3G connections in low-signal areas like at my desk at work. As a result, I am also suffering battery drain.

I also have noticed some wifi issues, but didn’t think about it until now.

No wifi issues at all, Carrier issues yes.

Myself, brother, and wife all experience a lose of connection to our carrier for a second or two then regain to full strength. This happens once every day or two it seems (all on Rogers) unsure at this point in time if it’s a carrier or iOS issue.

Oh btw all stock iOS, no JB 4.3.3

My wifi service dropped connectivity randomly and it didn’t autoconnect again… I had to manually reconnect it. It happened only once though.
Edge is working better on 4.3.3 for me though.

it’s weird, but since i’ve updated to os 4.3.3, i have had the wifi inadvertently turned off.  i didn’t even touch it.  not sure why.  goes straight to 3G, then i have to turn it back on.  it’s happened 2 times during the past 3 days.

I have noticed some connectivity issues with wi-fi since the ‘upgrade’, now that you mention it – and here I thought it was just being the vagaries of wi-fi and Canada’s ISPs. Drop-outs, re-connects, the requirement to manually request a connect on a network the iPhone already knows…
I have also noticed some drop-off of my 3G signal in locations where it hadn’t been an issue in the past.

Of course, old school Macoyltes will blame the user, but Apple (like other software providers) seems capable of breaking something with every ‘fix’.

Not sure if it’s related to the latest update, or the wife getting an iPhone 4 as well at the same time, but it seems like every second day I have to restart my router to get the iPhones to connect to the wifi at home. Not sure if it’s an issue with having two iPhones on the router at the same time, but up until then I never had a single issue.

I couldn’t connect to hotspots anymore, even with a network reset. the remedy for me was to start using the AutoWiFi app.

Yes, I had the issue.  After the upgrade WiFi connects then disconnects.  Called Apple support, they thought it was a hardware issue.  Gave me a new phone.  No problems now.

I purchased a new iPhone4 Friday, it was on 4.2.1 and working fine. Saturday morning I updated to 4.3.3 and immediately started dropping calls and experiencing “No Signal” in areas where by daughter’s BlackBerry Bold had full bars. After going to the Bell store 3 times and speaking to 1800myapple, the Bell store gave me a new phone. This new iPhone4 is on 4.2.1 and I will leave it on that iOS for now.

I have had a WiFi issue on my 3GS since 4.3.3. Suddenly could not connect to Starbucks. Login screen would not load. No problem at Safeway or Esquires. No prob at home.

Discovered if I turned off ‘auto join’ and ‘auto login’ and then opened browser I could get login page and connect. Extra step but you only have to change WiFi settings once. It does not effect settings for other hotspots. My son has same prob on iphone4. Two other friends with 4’s report no prob. Go figure!

Since I have updated my phone to 4.3.3 the drain on my battery has increased ( i have gone in and shut everything down as a test…and it drained overnight …8 hour period…without use) Dropped calls have increased (yes I am holding the phone properly) and even strength in signal has decreased.  It would be nice if Apple would recognize this as a problem instead of being indifferent to the problem.  Is it possible to go back to an older version?
