Rogers Launches LTE Network In Ottawa

Today Rogers launched their new LTE network in Ottawa, the first of many cities to receive the new high-speed upgrade.

LTE, or Long Term Evolution, delivers higher speeds than Rogers’ current HSPA+ network. LTE further delivers increased usage capacity which means more users can access the Rogers LTE network at top speeds simultaneously.

Ottawa is the first to experience the higher speeds, up to 25Mbps download, but the Rogers LTE network will roll out to Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal this fall 2011. Rogers then plans to expand across 21 additional markets throughout 2012.

While the iPhone 4 does not support these higher speeds, the next-generation iPhone, rumored for a fall 2011 release, may support 4G/LTE speeds.
