FlexPlayer: Watch Almost All Video Formats on iPhone Without Conversion

If you download lots of non-Apple friendly videos to watch on your iOS device, you typically have to convert your videos before transferring them in iTunes via apps such as Handbrake. Now, you won’t have to anymore as a newly released FREE app, FlexPlayer will do the job for you. Description below:

☆ Universal application for your iPhone, iPad, and/or iPod Touch
☆ Supports almost any video format
☆ Transfer videos from your Computer using iTunes File Sharing
☆ Play videos from e-mail attachments and many other Apps

Supported video quality:
Up to full HD quality (1920 x 1080 pixels) for QuickTime media files (mp4, mov, m4v, mph)
Up to DV quality (720 x 576 pixels) for other media files (flv, mkv, wmv, avi, asf, divx, xvid, vob, …)

Supported file formats:
AVI, DivX, Xvid, VOB, MKV, MP4, MOV, OGM, WMV, FLV (plus many more)

All you have to do is drag your video files into iTunes, then sync your device. The videos will appear in FlexPlayer, and you should be able to watch them right away. This app reminds me of many other apps, such as CineXPlayer (formerly free) and VLC (pulled from the App Store, but now in Cydia).

Click here to download FlexPlayer–it’s free. Give it a shot, and tell me how it works out for you!

This is such a great app and everyone really should download this if you ever watch videos on your iphone.  I just tried it and it plays pretty much every video I put in it.  This is like the vlc player for iphone , highly recommended.  It makes it even sweeter when it is available for free.  🙂

It won’t work on my phone. Files appear as “…” and the player closes immediately when files are clicked. 🙁

I was just about to ask about it. Darn. VLC does not run very smoothly with rmvb too. I don’t know if it is because of the video ratio.

It actually won’t play mkv. It’ll play the sound, but not the video.

After installing this player, I can now open links to other file types in safari (like wmv) and safari downloads the file and presents a button that says “open in flex player”.

The problem is that after I hit the button, I get swooped over to flex player and nothing happens. 🙁

Works ok on the ipad2 for avi and doesn’t show any advertising on top of the video unlike same other free players. No wireless streaming to the ipad, but you can send the files via third party apps so that’s OK.

Alas no zooming of 16:9 material to 4:3, and no 200% volume setting like VLC.

But hey, free and working. So grab it while it stays that way.

I’ve noticed a strange thing with Flexplayer on my iPad2. When I open an e-mail with say an wmv file attached, and I click on it, it sometimes opens and plays directly on the iPad, but then when I try it again, or another wmv file, it doesn’t open. Why does this happen?

When I try to drag and drop a movie clip the itunes just says that it didn’t copy because it can’t play on the ipad anyway. I have the flexplayer installed. How can I fix this??

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I became so frustrated with converters such as Handbrake, Wondershare and Bigasoft that I almost sold my beloved ipad!! I needed some films to watch during a long flight as I don’t like flying for long periods. Without this wonderful app I very nearly sold my ipad and cancelled my holiday. I cannot believe it’s free. Whoever invented it – THANK YOU. x x (Kim Anderson, Glasgow UK) * * * * *
