I’m gunning for the unlocked version straight from Apple, but as of this moment, the site has yet to open.

the problem is Rogers etc did not even release the HUP eligibility and the price they are charging last year’s iPhone 4 early adopters…
Although technically it is cheaper than US prices, you gotta remember they only have to sign a 2 year contract but we lucky Canadians have to sign a 3 year term 🙁
Everytime I try to pre-order one through Telus I get to a page that states:SORRY: There were 2 problems with your request1. The device you chose can only be activated with a combination of a rate plan and add-ons totalling $50 or more.
2. Your order is not properly associated with a province. Sorry, we cannot process your order.Is anyone else having this problem? I’ve selected a province and everything.
I tried preordering when it opened and I got that error message too. Went back to bed hoping they’d fix it by this morning. Nope. Still getting the error message. Did you ever get it to work?
I notice that you get that error when you pick the $45 plan. If i picked the $60 plan it went through

I was getting tHe same error. I tried 3 different credit cards. Finally got one to work. MasterCard. Pre order went through after 37 mins of messing around

Wow, interesting. I guess the carriers have put the lock down on every single available 4S handset till then. Also: “The unlocked iPhone works only on supported GSM networks, such as AT&T in the U.S. When you travel internationally, you can also use a micro-SIM card from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone 4 will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.”

I’d rather pay the US prices with 2 year contract than the Canadian prices with a 3yr contract.

Bell has not yet made the iPhone 4S available to it’s corporate customers, which is extremely disappointing.
just a note that the US plans are 2 year and the Canadian plans are 3 year….
You’re not comparing apples-to-apples. US prices for for 2 year contracts.
I’m a very happy Telus customer. But I noticed the plans for the iPhone 4S are different from the previous model or other smartphones.
For example, you only get 200/month local talk minutes vs. the previous 300. And there are fewer package options available. For example, as far as the iPhone 4S goes, gone is the Package 15 which gave you unlimited text, picture and video messages plus caller ID for $15/month. The old plans are still available on the iPhone 4 (non-S).
I called in while pre-ordering mine and was ensured that when they call to confirm my early upgrade charges I can inform them that I want to carry over my existing plan

Anyone know if there was a glitch in the system at Telus – I appear to have preordered the 64 GB iphone 4s for 159.00 on a 3 year term. My confirmation says 71.40 monthly and 166.95 due now.
Yeah, same thing happened for me. Except I ordered a 32gb, which they charged me $159.
Let’s hope Telus doesn’t try to put some extra money on our first bill, and let’s hope that we actually get the phones we are expecting 🙂
I’m seeing on the Rogers and Fido preorder pages that people are talking about the numbers that they are in the reservation cue. Did anyone who preordered through Telus receive any number? I don’t think I did.
Just got a call from telus phone will be sent by couier to arrive Oct 14 or 15 Telus guy says will keep $50 plan and no charge to renew 3 months early. Says price I paid will be honoured $159.00 for 32gb 4s
Good to hear. I ordered the 32gb for $159 too. I wasn’t going to say anything, just hope it slipped past them, but I’m glad they’re honoring their mistake.
Ordered the 64 GB White iPhone 4s. Plan ended up being $71.43/month
I’m moving to Canada by next year. I’m not sure which carrier I should grab my iPhone from. Seems like you’re dealing with monsters from all what I’ve read about Canadian carriers.
