Apple Rewind 2011 Lists Its Top iPhone App and Game of the Year

Apple has just listed its top apps and games of the year, as part of its annual App Store Rewind for 2011, as noted in a tweet sent out by the @AppStore account. The list for 2010 was posted almost exactly a year ago.

The iPhone app of the year: Instagram
Runners-Up: VidRhythm, Band of the Day

The iPhone game of the year: Tiny Tower
Runners-Up: Tiny Wings, Toughgrind BMW

There are also top picks for every category in the App Store. Here are some notable Canadian apps that made the pick:

Entertainment: Global Video
Finance: Globe Investor, RBC Mobile
Lifestyle: Canadian Tire Retail
News: CBC News, The Globe and Mail, National Post, CTV News,
Sports: ScoreMobile, Radio-Canada Sports

Canadian picks were also made under the Music category. The best Canadian overall album was Metals by Feist. The best song was The Grand Optimist by City and Colour, and breakthrough artist was deadmau5.

The best new video podcast went to Montreal-based Epic Meal Time (saucee bauuss).

Don’t know what the big deal about Instagram is. I hate the pictures it produces because they’re all faded out and shit. Cam+ is a MUCH better photo app!
