pod2g Gives Another Update on the Status of His New Jailbreak

Not long ago, we told you that iOS hacker pod2g had reported on Twitter that he and his team had all necessary exploits to create their next jailbreak, but still needed to bypass ASLR. Today, pod2g has given us another update, and says he has bypassed the ASLR. Now they just have to put together a jailbreak tool that can be released to the public.

It still isn’t completely clear which devices or firmware this is for, but we can at least hope this is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 on all devices up to the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. It would be excellent if this also supported the new iPad. There is no release date yet, but it sounds like pod2g is getting close!

If it supported up to the iPad 2 wouldn’t it work on the 4S too since the iPad 2 is an A5 chip, not A4?

Yeah, think there was a typo.

4s/iPad 2/ next iPad use one exploit (a5(x)) and the iPhone 4 and iPad 1 use the A4
