MuscleNerd Confirms You Can Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 Using Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b

Earlier today, Apple pushed out iOS 5.1.1 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with bug fixes and minor improvements. As usual, Dev-Team’s MuscleNerd came up with a Twitter announcement soon after it regarding iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak status and it appears that all A4 iOS devices that can be jailbroken on iOS 5.1 i.e iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and the original iPad can also be jailbroken on iOS 5.1.1 using the recently released Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b. The jailbreak is however tethered at the moment. Newer devices like iPad 2, iPhone 4S or the new iPad are not yet supported.

Here’s the tweet from MuscleNerd:

On the other hand, tinkerers with older devices can tether jailbreak 5.1.1 using last month’s redsn0w (just pre-select the 5.1 IPSW)

Simply follow the step-by-step Redsn0w jailbreak guide posted here. Remember to use Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b and pre-select iOS 5.1 IPSW instead of iOS 5.1.1 during the jailbreak process.

Tethered is such a pain in the ass and we all know it

It’s not as bad as it looks. My iPhone only turns off when I am jailbreaking it.
It remains on all the other times and I keep an eye on the battery by charging it up every night. Plus I got a charger at work so I’m good there too.

My iPhone has never turned off on it’s own for any reason what-so-ever.

Plus it helps to know what Cydia stuff you are downloading and don’t download stuff that is poorly coded.
