Firecore Releases aTV Flash 1.6

The latest untethered jailbreak has not only benefited Apple’s mobile devices, but it has benefited the Apple TV2, as well. Firecore released an update to their Apple TV jailbreak tool, Seas0nPass, not too long after the release of Absinthe 2.0. Jailbreaking your Apple TV2 allows you to install 3rd party software, that Apple doesn’t offer. The best way to do this, is with Firecore’s aTV Flash, and they have just released a major update.

aTV Flash 1.6 brings the ability to download subtitles for your movies, right on the Apple TV, via OpenSubtitles.org. It also now supports purchased content from iTunes. There is also a ton of bug fixes. Here is the full change log:

  • Resolved file specific metadata fetching issues
  • Resolved rare ISO file crashes
  • Resolved issue with displaying identical thumbnails for images with the same name

The jailbreak for the Apple TV, Seas0nPass, is completely free, but Firecore’s aTV Flash software will cost you $29.95. If you already have aTV Flash installed, this update is free, and can be found on your Apple TV under Maintenance > Manage Extras.
