Google Maps for iOS Download Coming Tonight?

AllThingsD reports the much anticipated Google Maps for iOS will be released tonight for download:

Google plans to release its much-awaited iOS Maps app tonight, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Apple ditched Google Maps in iOS 6 in favour of its own mapping solution, but the latter has turned into one giant snafu. Apple dropped Google Maps because Google did not allow turn-by-turn directions for iOS users. Apple CEO Tim Cook publicly apologized for Apple Maps and it resulted in the dismissal of iOS chief Scott Forstall.

An alleged screenshot of Google Maps for iOS was leaked back in mid-October but it didn’t reveal much. It will be interesting to see how Google Maps will perform on iOS, especially after a lackluster alternative solution recently released by Nokia.

Stay tuned!

We just published one. It was bullshit, what we suspected all this time, so we didn’t give it any attention.

Isn’t the final decision made by Apple not app developers?

It is about time Apple let Google release this app. It works great, the voice nav is also great.
My only issue is that I want Apple to give me control over making it my default app, instead of the piece of crap native app. But Apple letting people make decisions on their products is not going to happy any time soon.
