Pod2g Claims There Will Be No Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 5
Pod2g, the hacker that is supposed to be working with the members of the Chronic Dev Team on an untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 6 and iPhone 5, has had a pretty interesting conversation with i0n1c today.
While claiming there is no jailbreak for the iPhone 5, he also said this isn’t a bad thing: it could “push Apple to open their OS a little more for tweaks and mods”. He also admits that he is a dreamer, so this may not happen.
Hopes: the fact that there’s no jailbreak for the iPhone 5 may push Apple to open a little more their OS for tweaks and mods.

This could also mean the untethered jailbreak is never going to happen, just like i0n1c said recently.
For everybody that keeps asking: The iOS 6 .0(.1/.2) jailbreak will be released on Saint Glinglin Day.

An interesting note, though: there are more than 400 million iOS devices out there, but the jailbreak community counts only a few million devices, which means jailbroken iOS devices account for about 1% of the total. Why don’t the rest of iOS users want the tweaks and customizations offered by a jailbreak?
Pod2g’s answer is simple: fear or just lack of know-how. Jailbreaking doesn’t mean piracy: the leading hackers are all against piracy. When you jailbreak your iPhone, you open it up to customization – that’s it.
Faith: iOS 7 will allow tweaks and mods. #weWantAnOpenIOS

The only way to have a customizable iOS is to pressure Apple to open up iOS 7, and with Scott Forstall’s departure, there may be a tiny little chance to have that. Now Pod2g has started an initiative that is already trending on Twitter: if you want to have a customizable iOS that allows you to enable some awesome tweaks, tweet #weWantAnOpenIOS to pressure Apple.
