Apple Continues To Lead As The Top U.S. Smartphone Maker In 2013 [comScore]
The previous comScore MobiLens report for the three month period ending in January 2013 grabbed Apple the No. 1 US smartphone manufacturer position and now, the latest comScore report for the three month period ending in February 2013 shows that Apple has remained the top U.S. smartphone maker. While Android is still the top mobile operating system, Apple is gaining fast on the Google platform.
The latest numbers reveal that Apple has gained 3.9% points in terms of smartphone subscribers (from 35.0% to 38.9%) while Samsung jumped 1.0% points (from 20.3% to 21.3%). HTC fell 1.7 points (from 11.0% to 9.3%), Motorola dropped 1.1 points (from 9.5% to 8.4%), and LG fell 0.2 points (from 7.0% to 6.8%). Samsung and Apple gained a combined 4.9 points while the other three lost 3.0 points together.
In the platform space, Android is still dominating but iOS is gaining steadily. Android has dropped for the second month in a row while Microsoft has managed to gain share for the first time. According the the analysis, Google lost 2.0% points between November and February while Apple has increased its share by 3.9 percentage points.
