Alleged Low-Cost iPhone Rear Shell Hits the Web
The same source that posted some images of the fifth generation iPad mould just a couple days ago has obtained what they believe to be the rear shell (via MacRumors) of Apple’s long-rumoured budget iPhone.
As the source points out, the case you can see on the above image is made of polycarbonate plastic and it is both taller and wider than the iPhone 4S. An interesting addition though is that the budget iPhone will reportedly feature a 3.5-inch display, like previous iPhones.
Tactus, a case maker that posted the image, claims it has obtained information about low-cost iPhone’s technical specifications: it will come with a 3.5-inch Retina Display, will be powered by an Apple A5 chip with a 32nm manufacturing process, and will feature a 5MP rear camera.
Furthermore, Tactus puts the launch date at October 15th, with a selling price of $300 or £229-£249.
Previous rumours have suggested that the low-cost iPhone will be available in multiple colours. Tactus’ sources seem to confirm that.
At this moment it’s hard to confirm that this rear shell is indeed genuine, so we can’t exclude the possibility of being a fake So the information must be served with a grain of salt – at least for now.
