Apple Reveals App Store Search Results to Include More Ads in 2026
In 2026, Apple is refreshing how ads appear on the App Store with new top banner ads and more running on search results.
The Weather Network iOS App Surpasses 7 Million Downloads
The Weather Network has announced its iPhone and iPad weather apps have surpassed 7 million downloads and says it is one of the few Canadian-owned and operated companies to appear on Apple’s 25 All-Time Free apps in Canada list for 2013:
“As a Canadian leader in mobile app development, The Weather Network and MétéoMédia continue to deliver the most innovative and up-to-date weather-related content across a range of mobile platforms,” said Gita Ashar, Director of Mobile Applications and Emerging Technologies at The Weather Network. “We are extremely proud to be one of a handful of Canadian-owned companies to appear on the Top 25 All-Time Free Apps in Canada list.”
Parent company Pelmorex Media Inc. says both their iPhone and iPad versions of the Weather Network receive close to a million active users per day and drives more traffic than their website; during busy weather periods the iPhone app receives 12 million page views per day, or over 200 million per month.
Originally released as WeatherEye, the app relaunched itself back in October of 2011 and in 2012 the iPad version of the app topped the Top 25 All-Time Free apps; this year, it ranked second.
Even though there’s a plethora of weather apps for the iPhone, The Weather Network app has consistently been one of my go-to apps. What’s your favourite weather app?

The Yahoo! app is always nice to use
Unfortunately, the yahoo app has not the windshill factor which is very useful in winter.
It’s the “feels like” temperature when you go down.
I’d pay a few bucks to upgrade to an ad-free version that included push notifications for weather warnings.
Otherwise, it’s much easier to use the built-in weather app. Most days, the basic weather info is all I need.

My only comments is how to get rid of the Ad at the bottom. I’m willing to pay to get rid of it.
Love the Yahoo Weather App – looks great with the image pull PLUS NO ADs. But both Apps give different weather temperature results. I believe the Weather Network app is more accurate. What do you guys think?
I find the forecast to accurate for Montreal, at least. As for temperature a one degree difference is not w very big deal.
This app was good before they redesigned it. Now it’s bloated and the ads are annoying. I would pay for an ad-free version but until then, I’ll stick with Yahoo weather.
