Shaw Offering Free Wi-Fi to Southern Alberta During Flood Recovery

The Shaw Go Wi-Fi network is typically free for all Shaw customers, allowing them to connect to the company’s internet wirelessly throughout major urban centres and participating retail outlets and parks.

Shaw has announced it has made it Shaw Go Wi-Fi network free for all in Calgary and surrounding areas affected by flood waters and severe rainfall:

Calgary and surrounding areas have been put on a warning, or state of emergency call due to severe rainfall and flooding. While this crisis is ongoing Shaw will be opening the Shaw Go WiFi networks to all residents, including non Shaw subscribers. You can connect to this service by selecting the open network listed as “ShawGo”.

The free Shaw Go Wifi iOS app will show you where hotspots are available.

Rogers, TELUS and Bell customers can text REDCROSS or ROUGE to 30333 in Canada to donate $5 to the Canadian Red Cross for flood relief efforts. Rogers and Bell earlier announced each company will donate $100,000 towards relief efforts. Meanwhile, Google also created Crisis Maps for southern Alberta with emergency information.

Let us know if you’re able to connect to the free ShawGo WiFi network if you’re in the area.

Thanks Michael!

Good on Shaw for doing this… Cell phone Carriers should be doing the same. Its going to be rough while the people of Calgary recover from all the damage that’s been done.
