SaskTel has announced its latest results from its monthly enhancement projects on its 4G network and reports another 24 different sites received expansion in August of 2013:
Regina: Installed stealth poles in the North Central, Coronation Park and Diefenbaker areas with 4G and 4G LTE capabilities to increase coverage and capacity.
Saskatoon: Added monopoles at the old Quaker Oats site, the corner of 8th Street and Lorne Avenue and at the corner of Faithfull Avenue and 48th Street; a stealth pole was added in the Hampton Village area; a tower was erected at the corner of Highway 16 and Lutheran Road; and numerous other improvements to LTE infrastructure were made throughout the city to increase coverage and capacity
Esterhazy: Replaced a sector carrier to increase capacity
Langenburg: Added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
Jansen Lake Mine: Erected a temporary COW to increase coverage and capacity
North Battleford: Added capacity with three carrier additions
Battleford: Made a carrier addition to an existing tower to increase capacity
Lebret: Erected a wooden pole to increase coverage and capacity
Swift Current: Five carrier additions were made to existing infrastructure to increase capacity
Lucky Lake: Added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
Red Earth: Replaced a repeater to improve coverage and capacity
Back in July, SaskTel announced it had enhanced 20 different network locations.
The Saskatchewan crown corporation currently offers competitive plans the Big 3 are trying hard to compete against, such as its $65 per month Ultimate plan which includes unlimited talk, text and data.
At the end of August, SaskTel increased the price of its iPhone 5 on contract to $198, in line with offers from incumbents. With the company’s existing relationship with Apple, we expect them to carry new iPhones set to be announced tomorrow.
