Netflix Update Sees HD Playback, AirPlay Support for iOS 7

Netflix has updated its app for iOS 7 to now support HD viewing and also AirPlay support; the latter will require you to disable AirPlay mirroring for it to work properly. Full change log below:

* Netflix HD for iOS 7
* AirPlay streaming for iOS 7 (requires disabling AirPlay mirroring)
* Playback optimizations
* Stability improvements

Back in August, Netflix launched new personalized profiles which are now available in the iOS app, allowing users with numerous family members to customize their viewing experience.

Yes and if your Apple TV is jailbroken you cannot output without mirroring. It says you must update to latest release of Apple TV software which will pooch your jailbreak. Be warned and don’t update for now.

There isn’t but if you have an Apple TV original or 2nd gen for now its game over.

Then it doesn’t matter, because you are not going to get the HD benefits from this update anyway. The airplay though is cool.

This is probably a really stupid question, but why would you need AirPlay for Netflix (other than the rare scenario of watching something at a friend’s house who has an AppleTV but not a Netflix subscription)?
