A few days ago it was reported that Tony Fadell, ‘Father of the iPod’ and current CEO at Nest, was the one to have purchased the red Mac Pro and the solid rose gold EarPods at the Sotheby’s auction. Turns out, Fadell, did not purchase either of the two products. Yesterday, he corrected the claims on Twitter:
To be clear, I’m not the owner of either. The real owner will reveal themselves if they so choose. @kevinabosch @tfadell with (RED) Mac Pro

Fadell chose not to reveal the actual owner of the products out of respect for their privacy. The photos were simply showing Fadell admiring the incredible work of Jony Ive and Marc Newson.
