Apple’s Alleged Big Plans for 2014: 12.9-inch iPad, Bigger-Screen iPhone [Digitimes]

Digitimes reported a month ago that Quanta computer will mass produce a 12.9-inch iPad. Now the rumour mill is back with some fresh speculation: Apple is planning to launch a bigger-screen iPad targeting the North American educational market.
Citing sources from the upstream supply chain, the hit-or-miss news site reinforces the earlier Quanta report that the manufacturer will indeed produce the 12.9-inch or 13.3-inch iPad panels, with the 12.9-inch screen having a “better chance to be picked”. The tablet is allegedly considered as a substitute for the 11-inch MacBook Air.
Apple is rumored to release a 12.9-inch tablet in October 2014, targeting North America’s educational market, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
But this isn’t all: the iPhone 5s was launched several months ago, but all eyes seem to be focusing on the next-generation handset. And the bigger-screen iPhone rumours just don’t seem to want to die down.
Apple is said be working on a bigger-screen iPhone, which will allegedly hit the market in May 2014. The handset will sport a 20 nm processor courtesy of Apple’s new chip supplier, TSMC, Digitimes’ sources say.

Bigger iPhone. Please.
I don’t think there is any question that there will be a larger iPad coming (just called “iPad” – aka the 2014 iPad). I think the question is… Will it run iOS or Mavericks?
Having recently bought an iPad Mini, I never want a larger iPad ever again. The Mini is the perfect size.
And with a Mini and a larger iPhone…I’d be a little concerned that they’re eventually going to be the same device…
Will the next iphone be 4.5 or 5 inches?
