Bell has launched new nationwide Voice & Data Plus plans for Manitoba residents only, priced at $55, 65 and $75 for 1GB, 5GB and 10GB data respectively.
These plans include nationwide minutes with shareable data and also include unlimited SMS/MMS, message centre lite, caller ID, call waiting and conference calling.
These plans are available on 2-year terms or month to month. For new users, the $35 connection charge has been ‘reduced’ to $15 for a limited time.
Comparable plans for Bell customers outside Manitoba would cost $85, $105 and $140.

Why can’t we have these in BC! This is the reason people don’t like the BIG 3!
Exactly. The Big 3 say that there is lots of competition and there is no need for new wireless startups but this just proves them wrong. Everywhere else in the country where they have dominance they rip their customers off, but are forced to adjust their pricing in the provinces where there is actual competition.
If you have friends or family in Sask. or Manitoba, like I do, there is a way around it. Though it will require to you have a SK or MB number for a few weeks, until you transfer over to a BC number.
Not sure why this isn’t being investigated by the Competition Bureau and why the legislation in the Competition Act isn’t being enforced. Why is it considered “fair” (a word the big 3 often bemoaned regarding their treatment when Verizon was considering becoming a player in the Canadian market) that these plans are provincially exclusive? Maybe someone on here can explain why the big 3 are allowed to get away with this.
The main reason this is is coverage. Growth for Bell is slow in Manitoba because there is no coverage outside of thw major cities. They are also compeeting with a regional carrier that provides unlimited data at about the same rate. I for one will not jump on this as the coverage issue is just to much of a problem for me.
The real main reason for this is that Rogers already has these plans in MB.

This is a joke compared to Videotron’s 30GB plan for 80$!
