Roam Mobility Tests Personal Hotspots in iOS 7.1 [VIDEO]

Earlier this month, Apple released iOS 7.1 to the public after a long beta testing period. After the release many users started to report issues with personal hotspots and tethering after updating their devices.

Users reported that they were greeted with an error when they tried to save their APN settings under the Cellular Data Settings Menu. Effectively, when a user enters text into the text field and then backs out of the settings app, the changes that were made are never saved.

Roam Mobility has tested personal hotspots on their network to see if they work when running an iPhone on iOS 7.1. Below is the full video of the test:

Roam Mobility has confirmed the APN settings do not save when using iOS 7.1. It is not clear whether this is a bug in iOS or was done intentionally by Apple. The carrier also confirms that personal hotspots work with their iPhone 5 (Note: Outcomes may be different with different iPhone models).

iOS 7.1 brings features including CarPlay, enhanced Siri controls, Touch ID improvements, improved responsiveness for iPhone 4 users, along with further improvements and bug fixes.

I just returned from a trip to Vegas using my Roam Mobility SIM in my iPhone 4S, and I can also confirm that every thing did work regardless whether said roam in the APN or not, but with some playing around I found if you hit “enter” to go to the next field after entering roam in the APN it was retained.
