Microsoft Office for iPad Apps Take Top Spots in the App Store
Yesterday Microsoft Office officially launched in the iPad and in 24 hours, all of their apps have taken top spots in the iPad App Store. Apple is even promoting office in the iPad store under the featured area too:
Microsoft CEO today tweeted “looks like it’s a productive Friday for iPad owners!” along with a screenshot of the apps taking the top spots. Apple yesterday said it would be taking its usual 30% cut of all in-app subscriptions from Office 365:

Under the Top Grossing Apps in Canada, Microsoft Word for iPad already has the #7 spot, Microsoft Excel for iPad has the #14 spot and PowerPoint is at #38. To put these into perspective, Apple’s Pages is at #119.
Yesterday, an update made Office for iPhone free for home use. Previously it required an Office 365 subscription to use. For those interested, Amazon.com has subscriptions on sale for $67, a savings of $32. The description says it can be shipped outside the U.S.
Starting today until Sunday, the first 50 people to bring their iPad to a Microsoft retail store can get an Office 365 subscription for free ($99 value).
