Rogers Creates $70/6GB Plan to Battle the Videotron iPhone in Quebec
Yesterday marked a big day for Videotron in Quebec as the regional carrier launched the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, making it an alternative from the Big 3 for subsidized iPhone sales.
It looks like Rogers has taken note and created a $70/6GB nationwide plan for existing customers who are set to do upgrades, according to an internal doc, reports MobileSyrup:
Effective March 28 until further notice, Rogers will introduce a promotional Quebec $70 6GB plan for existing customers performing a hardware upgrade.
This price plan change should only be offered if a customer mentions a competitor or the Videotron iPhone.
This plan drives premium device subsidy, however its data bucket is not shareable.
The plan includes unlimited nationwide minutes, SMS/MMS, and the extras (caller ID, voicemail lite, etc). Data overages are charged at $15/GB.
A comparable plan from Videotron costs $79.95/month with 6GB data.

Meanwhile, a comparable Rogers 6GB nationwide plan outside of Quebec costs $125—a difference of $55.

Of course, those in Manitoba and Saskatchewan can also get a $65/5GB nationwide plan from Rogers.
Regional carrier competition definitely turns up the heat on incumbents. Now if only other provinces (outside of SK, MB, QC) can get that special fourth regional carrier so we can also get these juicy plans.
If you’re a Rogers customer in Quebec, let us know if you’re going to jump on this.

Sucks that’s it’s on in Quebec but hey at least it’s some form of competition…..
My friend got a promo like that with Rogers for 1GB same price :O
Does that mean the 6GB/$30 Data plan is now dead?
That was always promotional… and those of us who got it when it was on hang onto it for dear life!
it’s been gone for a while. it was a promotional offer during iphone launches back when Iphone users were transitioning to Rogers to get the latest iphone before everyone else.
Fair For Canadians.
Can a Canadian outside Quebec get the videotron plan? Or do you have to live in Quebec to get their “nationwide” plan?
That’s really a dumb question.
If we’re talking Rogers, you need to live in Quebec to receive the Quebec-only plan.
Guys, Videotron’s plan has THIRTY gb, not 6. Rogers’ offer is a joke.
Uh, no it doesn’t. You are the joke.
Uh, yes it does. Educate yourself. https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/carriers/videotron-business-plan-30gb/
that’s a business plan, stupid. Go look at their consumer plans.
easy , just get the business plan lol….not so stupid …
uh yes it is, they only offer business plans to people who OWN businesses with multiple employees.
If only i lived in Quebec…………..Ah wait a minute.
It’s cool
Only in Quebec? This proves that Rogers can afford cheaper plans but they are too greedy. Robbers. The reality is that the big three could afford to even offer “unlimited” data with throttling after 5GB to 3G speeds for 20 bucks per month and still making money hand over fist.
Telus?
Proof that the ‘big 3’ alone don’t offer enough competition to benefit consumers.

The real question here, is why the big three offer great plans to compete with REGIONAL carriers in some provinces, and not others. Ontario has Wind mobile, and the big three ignore their offerings.
I have the same plan for $65 in ontario, why would i pay 70 …?
I got a retention plan in rogers when i talked about videotron:
12 gig-unlimited voice in Canada – SMS video and photo worldwide unlimited- rogers one -call display and messages(3 messages) for 95+tx
