PayPal Looking to Quickly Implement Touch ID Into Its iOS Apps

With Apple announcing at WWDC 2014 the ability for developers to use Touch ID for their apps, the team from PayPal is reportedly ready to integrate the fingerprint reader into their apps, reports Business Insider:

Yesterday, a team of PayPal developers attended a session on Touch ID, Apple’s fingerprint-scanning system, at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, a PayPal source told us.

“It seems to be a fairly easy API to use, but we’re still kicking the tires,” the PayPal source tells us.

Anuj Nayar, PayPal’s senior director of global initiatives, confirmed in an email that company developers had attended the session.

This comes as no surprise considering how Touch ID is set to expand beyond its original role of allowing iTunes purchases and unlocking your iPhone 5s.

Since PayPal already has a mobile payments solution in place (such as in Toronto), the addition of Touch ID will make the app more secure and easier to use when it comes to purchases.

Apple has unleashed over 4,000 new APIs for developers to use in their future apps, such as the inclusion of third party keyboard support.
