Apple Teaches Kids iMovie and iBooks Author Through Summer 2014 Workshops

Apple has today opened up registration for Apple Camp, the free summer program for kids aged between 8 and 12 at its brick-and-mortar stores. This year Apple will focus on teaching kids how to make movies with iMovie, and how to tell interactive stories with iBooks Author. The classes are available for three days, with each class lasting for 90 minutes (via MacRumors).

The participants of Apple’s free youth program at the Apple Camp will learn everything they need to create their own movies. During the Summer workshops – part of Apple Camp – kids will storyboard ideas, shoot videos, and learn how to use Garageband to create original music for their movies. Everything is done on an iPad and then edited in iMovie on a Mac.

During the second workshop, the participating kids will learn how to create interactive books by drawing illustrations using an iPad, and adding sound effects and multi-touch features using iBooks Author on a Mac.

Apple offers multiple programs for kids, and Apple Camp is one of them. For those interested in participating in the aforementioned workshops, we recommend they hurry to sign up today on Apple’s retail website, as space is limited and available on a first-come- first-served basis only.
