iPhone 6 Said to Launch in Mainland China on September 25

Citing anonymous sources, the Chinese MyDrivers.com claims that iPhone 6 will go on sale in China on September 25. In an interesting turn of events, the sources claim the hotly anticipated device will be unveiled on September 15.

According to the Chinese press, both China Unicom and China Mobile are testing iPhone 6 units for compatibility with their 4G networks. In line with previous rumours, Apple is said to be unveiling two new iPhone models: a 4.7-inch version and a 5.5-inch version. Additionally, the bigger version will reportedly have key features such as OIS (optical image stabilization), sapphire glass, that are sure to boost sales. What’s interesting — if maybe not so likely — is the potential for a split-screen option, since the 5.5-inch display is said to have enough real estate to make this feature enjoyable.

What raises concern in the Chinese media, though, is the price of the next generation handsets: the 4.7-inch version is said to start at same 5,288 Yuan, about $850 while the 5.5-inch version will reportedly start at 5,998 Yuan, or $964. The pricing of the 4.7-inch model matches an earlier report, which claimed this is to be the price for the 32GB version.

Apple is widely expected to launch the iPhone 6 this fall and now we have two dates: one claims the device will reach stores on September 19, while the Chinese sources claim a September 15 release date. Considering that Apple usually launches its products on Friday, it makes us wonder if the September 25 date is correct.
