Fleksy Keyboard for iOS 8 Will Support 40 Languages at Launch

At WWDC last month Apple announced support for third party keyboards in iOS 8, opening up many doors for developers like Swiftkey, Swype and Fleksy to make their way to the iPhone and iPad.

Fleksy already teased an image of their keyboard running on iOS 8 beta and this morning announced its keyboard at launch will support 40 languages on iOS 8, as they are on schedule for a fall launch.

“Today’s update represents a major, cross-platform engineering milestone for us. We are excited to confirm that are on schedule to support a total of over 40 languages, for both Android and iOS, out of beta by this fall” said Kosta Eleftheriou, Founder and CEO of Fleksy.

The company previously stated it would be the first third party keyboard active on iOS 8.

With Apple releasing over 4,000 new APIs in iOS 8, the race is on for developers to update or release apps showcasing these new features on time for the mobile operating system’s launch this fall.

Are you excited to try third party keyboards on iOS 8? They’ve been available on Android smartphones for a while now, but some have complained about lag issues.
