Sources Claim iWatch in Three Varieties, Two Sizes
Apple will release three versions of the iWatch in the third quarter this year, Taiwan’s Economic Daily News reports (via GforGames). The smartwatches will be available in two different sizes; the first version will sport a 1.6-inch display, while the other two versions will reportedly have a 1.8-inch one.
In case you were wondering why there will be three versions, here is what the Economic Daily’s sources say: the main difference between the two 1.8-inch versions is that one of them will incorporate a sapphire glass display.
The rumour contradicts earlier reports that claim Apple has pushed back mass production of the highly anticipated smartwatch to November. Furthermore, the sources haven’t mentioned a fourth size-the alleged 2.5-inch model, as hinted by Reuters.
There is a lot of confusion over both the iWatches, you may recall that last year Bloomberg said Apple would launch it sometime in the fall — but it never materialized. This year, different sources have mentioned a possible October release, but Apple’s plans may have changed over time.
The report also revives the rumour of a possible partnership with TKP, as a supplier for iWatch — and possibly the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. This is in light of the claim that the device will reportedly use silver nanowire touch screen technology, which was developed by TKP in a strategic alliance with Nissha Printing.
